Watertown Self Defense
Self Defense for kids
Where very young children are concerned, age 4-7, we simply want our children to fight back. We teach them the most effective striking points and the strikes in class of course, but we all know that a 4 year old’s kick or punch is unlikely to stop a motivated adult. For this reason, we use the striking training, to also instill a sense of self in children. A sense that no stranger has the right to put their hands on me, and that there are times when they don’t have to obey adults. The Charland Institute is all about teaching the mental benefits of the martial arts, we teach the lessons that allow children to learn right from wrong in an uncomfortable situation. We teach these lessons without scarring children or making them uncomfortable.
Things Girls should know for girls age 11-15
Master Charland created this program for girls years ago. At the Charland Institute, we believe that there are many kinds of self defense. Have you ever considered self defense against Negative Media Advertising? This would be the types of advertising that make girls feel less confident, like some makeup ads. It would also include fast food advertising etc. . . Maybe you haven’t thought of Relationships, Dating and Boys as a topic that would better prepare your little girl as she enters her teenage years. These topics and more are covered in this program which we offer to our young female members from time to time. This program can also be offered to Girl Scout Troops and Youth Groups etc. . You can find out more and see all 10 topics at this website: flavors.me/tgsk

Self Defense for College Girls and women
We taught women’s self defense for years. The trouble is; we would take out ads in the paper advertising this seminar, offering 4.5 hours of instruction and no one would come. Either people didn’t want to commit the time necessary to become at all proficient in the techniques, or they simply feel complacent. Then Jane Doe No More came out with a great program. This is a trusted organization that seems to have an audience of women, and a great referral system. So now we suggest this program to women in the community. It is less expensive than we can do it due to donations and subsidies, the instructors are great, and they are actually friends of ours. So go to janedoenomore.org for more information.
